How do On-Grid And Off-Grid Power System Work?

How Do On Grid Power Systems Work?

Solar Solutions in Kerala

1. Photovoltaic solar panels mounted on your roof, or on a ground mounted frame, use the sun’s solar radiation to generate DC (Direct Current) electricity.

2. The electricity travels to a grid tie inverter, usually located near to the switchboard which converts the DC electricity into 230 volts AC (Alternating Current) as used in your home.

3. The energy generated can be used within the home or business first and any excess electricity is fed into the national grid. If there is little or no solar energy available because of bad weather or at night, energy is sourced from the national grid.

A two way (Import/Export) meter is installed in place of your existing meter, to measure the energy you feed in and take from the national grid.

How Do Off-Grid Power Systems Work?

Solar Panel Installation in Kerala

1. Solar generation solar PV panels mounted on your roof, or on a ground mounted frame, use the sun’s solar radiation to generate DC (Direct Current) electricity. (Wind and water turbines are sometimes used as an alternative to, or in conjunction with, solar generation.)

2. The solar controller – The voltage and current generated from the solar panels are controlled by a solar controller. This ensures the batteries are charged at the correct voltage, and prevents damage to the battery bank.

3. Battery bank – The DC electricity being generated is stored in a battery bank for use as and when required. The battery bank is sized so there is enough storage for at least 3 days without any solar generation.

4. Inverter/charger – An inverter/charger converts the DC energy stored within the battery bank into 230volts AC (Alternating Current) as used in your home.

5. Backup generator – If there is little or no solar energy available for a number of days, the inverter/charger will automatically start a backup generator and re-charge the battery bank so that you are assured plenty of power. Optional monitoring. It is possible to set up remote monitoring of the system if required.

Advantages of Using Solar Power in Petrol Pumps

India has over 50,000 petrol pumps catering to the demand of the country. And do you know how much electricity a petrol pump needs every day? It requires more than 5 KW of electricity every day for their operations. This amounts to a total capacity of over 1,440 KW of power required for a year per petrol station. Running your petrol pump on electricity is possible in the big and medium cities but the petrol pumps, especially in rural India, derive power from diesel generators sets as they do not have a continuous power supply or do not have power lines.  The operation cost for running the pumps on diesel generators sets is very high. So using solar panels is more advantageous than a diesel generator. Use of solar energy in petrol pumps has proven to offer reliable operations of dispensing units even in load shedding hours. The dispensing units last long as the solar system provides superior power quality. Advantages: Can be used on pre-installed inverters Economic, Smal

Solar Energy in Transportation

As we all know solar energy is obtained from the sun’s radiation and it can be converted into electricity or heat. It is freely available and thanks to advances in technology, we can now harness even more of the solar energy that is continuously available to us. Solar energy is not only sustainable, it is renewable and this means that we will never run out of it. It is about as natural a source of power as it is possible to generate electricity. The creation of solar energy requires little maintenance. Once the solar panels have been installed and are working at maximum efficiency there is only a small amount of maintenance required each year to ensure they are in working order. They are a silent producer of energy. There is absolutely no noise made from photovoltaic panels as they convert sunlight into usable electricity. There are continual advancements in solar panel technolog y which are increasing the efficiency and lowering the cost of production, thus making it, even m

How to plan for solar panels for a new home?

Everyone has a dream to build their own new home. But building a new home is very challenging and a difficult process as well. There are so many things one should keep in mind such as finding the perfect block of land in the best suburbs, selecting the right builder and other things like furnishings, colours, fittings etc. If you decide to install solar panels on your rooftop when your home is being built, you can ensure that your home is designed with solar PV systems. While your solar energy system doesn’t need to be at the centre of all your home design decisions, anticipating and eliminating potential issues at the time of construction is a lot easier than trying to work around them later. The “ideal” solar home has a south-facing roof to capture as much sunlight as possible over the course of the day.  Every roof types are suitable for solar installation but some roof types will be difficult for the solar installers to work with.
